Iran Retaliates Against US-Israeli Strikes, Launches Missiles Across the Region

Iran unleashes a wave of missile strikes on Israel and Gulf Arab states after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, vowing a massive retaliation against the US and Israel.
Iran has fired a barrage of missiles at targets in Israel and Gulf Arab states in a dramatic escalation of tensions following the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by the United States and Israel.
The missile strikes came just hours after Iran vowed massive retaliation for the assassination of Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israeli operation on Friday. Iranian officials immediately blamed the US and Israel for the attack, which they described as an act of war.
The missile barrage targeted military and government installations across Israel and in several Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying they were just the "first step" in Iran's promised retaliation.
Witnesses reported seeing plumes of smoke rising over several cities, and regional air defense systems were activated to intercept the incoming missiles. There were no immediate reports of casualties, but the strikes caused significant material damage and disrupted infrastructure and transportation networks across the affected areas.
The attacks came just days after the US and Israel carried out a targeted operation that killed Ayatollah Khamenei, who had ruled Iran with an iron fist for nearly three decades. Khamenei's death has plunged the Middle East into a new state of crisis and uncertainty, with Iran and its regional rivals now engaged in a dangerous escalation of hostilities.
In the wake of the missile strikes, international leaders have called for calm and urged both sides to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation that could destabilize the entire region. However, Iran has vowed that the attacks are just the beginning of its promised retaliation, leaving the Middle East bracing for a potentially protracted and bloody conflict.
