Iran's Defiant Response to Trump's World Cup Exclusion Threat

Iran fires back after Trump threatens to exclude them from the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Iran has issued a defiant response to former U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to exclude them from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) asserted that no one can prevent Iran from participating in the global football tournament, citing the country's strong presence and success in previous World Cups.
In a statement, the IFF emphasized that Iran has consistently been a part of the World Cup since 1978 and has qualified for the tournament on numerous occasions, including the upcoming 2022 edition in Qatar. The federation stressed that Iran's participation in the world's most prestigious football event is non-negotiable and that the country will continue to compete on the international stage.
