Iran Seeks $270 Billion in War Compensation as US Talks Loom

Iran demands reparations for US and Israeli attacks on its critical infrastructure, as new negotiations with the US are set to begin.
Iran is demanding over $270 billion in compensation for damages caused by US and Israeli attacks on its critical infrastructure over the years, as the country prepares for fresh talks with the United States.
The Iranian government has long argued that it is entitled to reparations for the economic and material toll of the decades-long conflict with the West, which has seen its power grid, oil facilities, and other key assets repeatedly targeted by airstrikes and cyberattacks.
Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, stated that the $270 billion figure represents a conservative estimate of the direct and indirect losses Iran has suffered due to the US-led sanctions regime and military actions against the country.
