More than 100 Iranians in the UK, including Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, urge PM Starmer to avoid further involvement in the Iran conflict, warning it will only strengthen the Tehran regime.
Iranians living in the UK are issuing a strong plea to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, urging him not to get drawn further into the Iran conflict. Among the more than 100 signatories is Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, one of Iran's former political prisoners.
In a letter to the PM, the group warns that the way the war is being conducted is only serving to strengthen the regime in Tehran. They argue that further involvement from the UK will backfire, empowering the very government they seek to undermine.
The letter comes at a critical juncture, as tensions between Iran and the international community continue to simmer. Zaghari-Ratcliffe and the other signatories have firsthand experience of the brutality of the Iranian regime, having faced imprisonment and persecution for their political views.
