Iran, US Making Progress Toward Nuclear Deal, Foreign Minister Confirms

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the US and Iran have made significant progress in negotiations, potentially leading to a new nuclear agreement.
Tehran, Iran - In a statement to Iranian state media, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that Iran and the United States have moved closer to reaching a new nuclear agreement, after years of tensions and a previous deal being abandoned.
Araghchi stated that the two sides have made "substantial progress" in the ongoing negotiations, though he cautioned that several key issues remain unresolved. "We are closer to a deal, but there is still a long way to go," he said.
The original nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed in 2015 between Iran and a group of world powers including the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia, and China. It placed limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
