Israel Seeks Talks With Lebanon to Disarm Hezbollah, Netanyahu Reveals

In a surprise announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has ordered his government to hold talks with Lebanon about disarming the powerful Hezbollah militia group.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he has ordered his government to hold talks with Lebanon about disarming the powerful Hezbollah militia group. The announcement comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Lebanon following a recent wave of Israeli airstrikes on the country.
Speaking at a news conference, Netanyahu said, "I have instructed the security establishment to hold talks with Lebanon on the issue of disarming Hezbollah. We will not tolerate the smuggling of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah through Lebanese territory." The prime minister added that Israel "will act against this threat with or without the cooperation of the Lebanese government."
Hezbollah, a Shia Muslim political party and militant group based in Lebanon, is a major political and military force in the country. The group is backed by Iran and has been involved in conflicts with Israel for decades. Israel views Hezbollah as a significant threat and has carried out numerous airstrikes against the group's weapons and infrastructure in Lebanon.
