LA Stadium Crew Calls on FIFA to Exclude ICE From World Cup

Stadium workers in Los Angeles urge FIFA to prevent US immigration agents from accessing the World Cup venue, citing worker fears.
Los Angeles, CA - A workers' union at the World Cup stadium in Los Angeles has made a direct appeal to FIFA, the global soccer governing body, to prohibit US immigration enforcement agents from accessing the venue during the upcoming tournament.
The request comes amid growing concerns among stadium staff that the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents could lead to intimidation and deter some workers from carrying out their duties at the high-profile event.
David Garcia, a spokesperson for Unite Here Local 11, the union representing concession workers, custodians, and others at SoFi Stadium, said the union has sent a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino urging the organization to bar ICE from the venue.
