Libraries Get Funding Boost for National Reading Year

Public libraries across the country to receive up to £150,000 in additional funding to support the National Year of Reading initiative.
Public libraries throughout the UK are set to receive a significant cash injection to support the upcoming National Year of Reading, the government has announced. The initiative, which aims to encourage more people to pick up a book and read, will receive up to £150,000 in additional funding to help libraries deliver engaging programs and events for their local communities.
The National Year of Reading is a nationwide campaign launched by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to celebrate the joy and benefits of reading. It will feature a variety of activities and promotions designed to inspire people of all ages to explore new books, rediscover old favorites, and make reading a regular part of their daily lives.
Libraries will be at the forefront of this effort, using the new funding to develop innovative programs that cater to diverse interests and needs. This could include author talks, reading groups, digital literacy workshops, and outreach initiatives to connect with underserved populations.
