Lincolnshire AI Datacentre Approved Despite Climate Concerns

Despite warnings about its potential emissions, a new AI datacentre campus has been approved by North Lincolnshire council, sparking concerns from environmentalists.
In a controversial move, North Lincolnshire council has unanimously approved plans for the construction of a new AI datacentre campus near Scunthorpe, known as the Elsham Tech Park. This decision comes despite warnings from campaigners that the facility could generate emissions close to those produced by all UK domestic flights.
The proposed datacentre, situated next to the Elsham Wolds industrial estate, is set to become a major new energy-intensive facility in the region. Environmentalists have expressed concerns that the sheer scale of the project and its energy demands could have significant environmental impact.
