Major Investment to Tackle Homelessness Across the UK

The government is investing over £50 million to combat homelessness and meet the national goal of halving long-term rough sleeping by the end of this Parliament.
In a significant move to address the pressing issue of homelessness, the UK government has announced the allocation of over £50 million to two new funds aimed at tackling this complex social challenge head-on. This investment is part of the government's broader efforts to meet the national target of halving long-term rough sleeping by the end of the current parliamentary term.
The first of these funds, the Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme, will provide £42 million to create move-on accommodation for individuals transitioning from rough sleeping to more stable living arrangements. This initiative will focus on acquiring and refurbishing properties, as well as providing the necessary support services to ensure the successful integration of these individuals into the community.
The second fund, the Supported Lettings Fund, will receive £10 million to support local authorities and their partners in establishing and maintaining tenancies for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This program will enable the provision of tailored support services, helping to prevent individuals from falling back into the cycle of rough sleeping.
