Massive WWII Bomb Discovered in Dresden, Thousands Evacuated

Thousands of residents forced to evacuate after a WWII-era bomb is found in Dresden, Germany. Meanwhile, defense contractor Rheinmetall reports record profits as Europe ramps up rearmament.
In a jarring reminder of Germany's tumultuous past, city authorities in Dresden have been forced to evacuate thousands of residents after the discovery of a World War II-era bomb. The bomb, which was likely dropped during the Allied bombing campaigns of the war, was uncovered during construction work in the historic city center.
Dresden, once the site of one of the most devastating air raids of WWII, has had to confront its history yet again as emergency services work to safely remove and dispose of the explosive device. Residents living within a 1-kilometer radius of the bomb's location have been ordered to leave their homes as a precaution, with authorities setting up temporary shelters to accommodate the displaced families.
