Mexico City - In a significant victory against organized crime, the Mexican government has announced the killing of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the notorious leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Commonly known by his alias 'El Mencho', Oseguera Cervantes had been one of the country's most wanted fugitives for years, with a $10 million bounty on his head.
The operation that led to his demise was carried out by Mexican security forces in a remote area of the western state of Jalisco, which has long been a stronghold of the CJNG. According to Mexico City mayor Alfa González Sheinbaum, the government is now working to address the reported violence and unrest that has followed this major development.
