Microsoft Surface Devices Hit By RAM Crisis: Prices Soar

Microsoft raises prices across its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop lineup due to the global RAM shortage, with some models now costing $500 more.
Microsoft has been forced to raise the prices of its Surface devices amid the ongoing global RAM shortage. The 13-inch Surface Pro 11 and the 13.8-inch Surface Laptop 7 now cost $500 more than their original starting price, going from $999 to $1,499.
Last year, Microsoft had already discontinued the cheaper $999 versions of these models in favor of the $1,199 variants with more storage. At the time, it seemed like the company was making room for the more affordable 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop that launched last May. However, even these newer devices are not immune to the price increases driven by the RAM crisis.
