Middle Eastern Restaurant Wins Apology From Daily Telegraph Over 'Undercover Jew' Story

Daily Telegraph issues apology to Cairo Takeaway restaurant in Sydney after sending pro-Israel activist 'undercover' to the eatery, sparking legal dispute.
The Daily Telegraph, a prominent Australian news outlet, has issued an apology to a popular Middle Eastern restaurant in Sydney after the paper sent a pro-Israel activist to the eatery as part of an 'undercover' operation, sparking a legal dispute.
The apology, published on page two of the News Corp newspaper, comes as part of an agreed joint statement to resolve the legal conflict between Cairo Takeaway restaurant and the activist, Ofir Birenbaum.
The controversy began when the Daily Telegraph sent Birenbaum, a known pro-Israel activist, to the Cairo Takeaway restaurant in an apparent attempt to uncover some kind of anti-Israel bias or agenda. This 'undercover' operation, which the paper dubbed 'undercover Jew', caused significant distress to the restaurant owners and staff.
