North Korea Escalates Missile Tests During US-South Korea Military Drills

North Korea has launched a series of ballistic missiles as the United States and South Korea conduct joint military exercises, further heightening regional tensions.
North Korea has fired approximately 10 ballistic missiles in a defiant response to the ongoing US-South Korea military drills, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. The missile tests come as the two allies are engaged in their largest joint exercises in years, a move that has consistently provoked Pyongyang to showcase its growing missile capabilities.
The missile launches, which took place off North Korea's east coast, are the latest in a series of provocations by the Kim Jong-un regime as it seeks to exert its influence and leverage in the region. The ballistic missiles were fired from the Sunan area near the North Korean capital, with some traveling up to 360 kilometers (224 miles) and reaching altitudes of 30 kilometers (19 miles).
