Northern Ireland Businesses Advised to Prepare for Streamlined GB-NI and EU Trade

Negotiations ongoing to simplify UK-EU trade, with Northern Ireland playing a central role. Businesses urged to get ready for new processes and opportunities.
Northern Ireland businesses are being encouraged to prepare for smoother and more efficient trade between Great Britain (GB) and the European Union (EU), as negotiations progress on a new deal to improve cross-border processes.
The UK and EU are currently in talks to establish new rules and systems that will make importing and exporting goods between GB and Northern Ireland (NI) easier, cheaper and faster. This comes as NI continues to play a unique role as the only part of the UK that shares a land border with the EU.
Under the terms of the Northern Ireland Protocol, NI effectively remains part of the EU single market for goods, requiring additional checks and paperwork for trade between GB and NI. The new negotiations aim to reduce this administrative burden and make the process more streamlined.
