Pardoned Capitol Rioter Sentenced to Life for Horrific Child Abuse

A former Capitol rioter pardoned by Trump has been given a life sentence for sexually abusing children. This case highlights the ongoing legal troubles of many January 6th defendants.
Andrew Paul Johnson, a participant in the January 6th riot at the US Capitol, has been sentenced to life in prison for the horrific sexual abuse of children. This disturbing case underscores the continued legal troubles facing many of the individuals involved in the Capitol insurrection, even after receiving presidential pardons from former President Donald Trump.
Johnson, a 36-year-old Florida resident, was one of the rioters who stormed the Capitol building on January 6th, 2021, in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Like dozens of other Capitol rioters, he was later granted a full pardon by Trump, who infamously pardoned a number of individuals connected to the attack on the seat of American democracy.
