A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.4 has struck off the coast of Indonesia's Ternate island, triggering a tsunami warning in the region. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles).
The tremor was felt across several provinces in Indonesia, including North Maluku, where Ternate is located. The country's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) immediately issued a tsunami warning for the areas surrounding the epicenter, advising residents to stay away from the coastline.
