Qatar Offers to Mediate US-Iran Negotiations

Qatar's Foreign Ministry says it is prepared to assist in brokering talks between the United States and Iran, amid ongoing tensions between the two countries.
Doha, Qatar - The Qatari Foreign Ministry has announced that the country is ready to help facilitate negotiations between the United States and Iran. In a statement, ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said Qatar is willing to mediate between the two nations as they work to resolve their longstanding disputes.
The offer comes at a critical juncture, with tensions between Washington and Tehran remaining high over a range of issues, including Iran's nuclear program, its regional influence, and the stalled 2015 nuclear deal. Qatar, which has maintained relatively good relations with both the US and Iran, is seen as a potential neutral arbiter that could help bridge the gap between the adversaries.
