Red Sox Dismiss Alex Cora Amid AL East Struggles

Boston Red Sox fire manager Alex Cora and five coaches as team languishes in last place in AL East with 10-17 record. Chad Tracy named interim manager.
In a significant shakeup for the franchise, the Boston Red Sox made the decision to fire manager Alex Cora on Saturday, along with five members of his coaching staff, as the organization continues to struggle near the bottom of the American League East standings. The dismissal came despite the team's recent victory in Baltimore, highlighting the organization's frustration with overall performance and results this season. With a record of 10-17, the Red Sox find themselves in unfamiliar territory, prompting management to take decisive action in hopes of turning around the struggling campaign.
Chad Tracy, a career minor league player and current manager of Boston's Triple-A Worcester affiliate in the International League, has been named interim manager to lead the team forward. Tracy brings minor league experience and comes from a baseball family, with his father, Jim Tracy, having served as a major league manager for 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Colorado Rockies. The appointment marks a transition period as the organization seeks to stabilize its clubhouse and refocus its efforts on competitive baseball.
Cora's tenure as Red Sox manager had been marked by both tremendous success and recent disappointment. Earlier in his managerial career with Boston, he guided the franchise to one of its greatest seasons, accumulating a franchise-record 108 wins and capturing a World Series championship in 2018. That remarkable achievement seemed to cement his legacy as one of the team's most successful skippers. However, the trajectory changed dramatically as roster composition shifted dramatically through offseason moves.
