Reddit Crackdown: Bots Must Prove They're Human to Keep Posting

Reddit is taking new steps to identify bots on the platform, requiring 'fishy' accounts to confirm they're human using methods like fingerprint scanning or ID submission.
Reddit, the popular social news platform, is taking a bold step to combat the proliferation of bot accounts on its platform. In a recent announcement, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman revealed that the company will be introducing a new system to identify and label automated accounts, while also requiring users with suspicious 'bot-like' behavior to verify their human status.
The new measures are aimed at ensuring the authenticity of the platform's user base and preserving the integrity of discussions and interactions. Under the new rules, developers will be able to register their automated accounts with Reddit, which will then receive a distinctive '[APP]' label. However, the platform will also be closely monitoring unlabeled accounts that exhibit automated or fishy behavior, and may require these users to undergo verification processes such as fingerprint scanning or ID submission to confirm their human identity.
