Resilience in the Face of Adversity: Displaced Families in Lebanon Adapt to Harsh Conditions

Displaced families in Sidon, Lebanon are forced to turn their vehicles into temporary shelters, using tarps to protect themselves from the rain, in a moving display of resilience.
Sidon, Lebanon - In the face of ongoing displacement and harsh weather conditions, families in Sidon, Lebanon have resorted to an unorthodox solution to find shelter: converting their vehicles into makeshift homes. With tarp covering the tops of their cars, vans, and trucks, these resilient individuals are creating a sense of security and respite amidst the challenging circumstances they find themselves in.
The situation in Sidon, a coastal city in southern Lebanon, has become increasingly dire as the country grapples with a severe economic crisis, compounded by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating Beirut port explosion in 2020. With limited access to affordable housing and a lack of government support, many displaced families have been left to fend for themselves, finding innovative ways to create temporary shelter.
