Rivian Unveils Pricing and Specs for Powerful R2 Electric SUV

Rivian's new midsize electric SUV, the R2, is set to hit the market this spring with impressive range, power, and features. Learn about the pricing, trim details, and more.
Rivian, the rising electric vehicle (EV) automaker, has officially revealed the pricing and trim details for its highly anticipated R2 SUV. Despite the industry chaos caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine, Rivian has stayed true to its timeline, with deliveries of the first R2 SUVs set to begin this spring.
As a new player in the EV market, Rivian often takes a unique approach, but with the R2 launch, they are following the industry standard by starting with the more premium version first. That's the R2 Performance, which will start at $57,990 (not including a $1,495 delivery charge) with the launch package.
For that price, buyers will get a midsize electric SUV with up to 330 miles (531 km) of range from a single charge of the 87.9 kWh battery pack. The dual-motor powertrain delivers an impressive 656 hp (489 kW) and 609 lb-ft (825 Nm) of torque, making the R2 Performance a true powerhouse. Fast charging takes just 29 minutes from 10-80 percent.
The R2 Performance model comes equipped with a host of premium features, including semi-active suspension, a rear window that drops into the tailgate, an interior with birch accents, heating and ventilation for the front and rear seats, a nine-speaker sound system, and matrix LED headlights.
Rivian's approach to the R2 launch is a strategic one, as the company aims to establish its foothold in the competitive midsize electric SUV market. By leading with the top-of-the-line R2 Performance model, Rivian is showcasing the capabilities and features that set its vehicles apart from the competition.
As the EV industry continues to evolve, Rivian's ability to deliver on its promises and introduce innovative, high-performance vehicles will be crucial to its success. The R2 SUV represents the next step in the company's mission to revolutionize the way we think about and experience electric transportation.
With the first deliveries of the R2 Performance model slated for this spring, Rivian is poised to make a significant impact in the midsize electric SUV segment. As the company continues to refine and expand its product lineup, consumers can look forward to even more innovative and capable electric vehicles from this rising EV powerhouse.
