Rory McIlroy Defends Masters Title in Nail-Biting Victory

Rory McIlroy becomes only the fourth golfer to successfully defend his Masters title, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest of the modern era.
Rory McIlroy, the 36-year-old Northern Irish golf superstar, has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players of the modern era by defending his Masters title at Augusta National. McIlroy's latest triumph sees him join an exclusive club of only four golfers who have successfully defended the prestigious Green Jacket, a feat accomplished by Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods in the past.
The 2025 edition of the Masters was a nail-biting affair, with Scottie Scheffler pushing McIlroy all the way to the final hole. McIlroy ultimately prevailed by a single shot, finishing the tournament at 12 under par. This latest victory not only cements his status as one of the golfing greats, but also sees him surpass the legendary Seve Ballesteros as a six-time major champion.
