SBA Loans Denied to Immigrant Entrepreneurs in America First Push

The US federal agency tasked with supporting small businesses has, for the first time in its history, cut off an essential line of funding for immigrant entrepreneurs. Legal residents, or green card holders, are now ineligible for loans backed by the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The change was first announced in February and comes as the agency carries out an "America First" agenda under SBA administrator Kelly Loeffler, a billionaire and staunch Donald Trump loyalist who was appointed last February.
This decision by the SBA represents a significant blow to immigrant entrepreneurs, who have traditionally relied on SBA-backed loans to start and grow their businesses. Many of these individuals have come to the US seeking the American dream, only to face increasing barriers to achieving their goals.
