In the wake of the explosive New York Times investigation detailing allegations of sexual abuse by civil rights icon Cesar Chavez, a non-binary, Indigiqueer, Coahuiltecan artist and cultural worker from the San Francisco Bay Area has come forward with their own harrowing experience. Jennifer Andrea Porras, now 53 years old, says they were sexually abused by the co-founder of the United Farm Workers (UFW) union as a teenager.
Porras' revelation adds to the growing number of victims who have broken their silence about the dark side of Chavez's legacy.
