State Department Cracks Down on Visa Privileges for 'Adversary Supporters'

The US State Department has restricted visas for 26 individuals across the Western Hemisphere who are accused of undermining American interests.
In a move to crackdown on perceived adversaries of the United States, the Trump administration has revoked or restricted the visas of 26 individuals across the Western Hemisphere. The State Department said these individuals were accused of undermining US interests and supporting adversaries of the country.
According to a statement released by the State Department, the visa restrictions are part of the administration's efforts to hold accountable those who threaten democratic institutions and promote corruption in the region.
"We will continue to use this authority to target corrupt actors who undermine democratic institutions," said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. "The United States firmly supports the rule of law and the democratic process, and we will take action against those who undermine these principles."
The State Department did not provide specifics on which individuals had their visas revoked or restricted, citing privacy concerns. However, officials noted that the actions were taken across our hemisphere against those who allegedly "undermine US interests and support adversaries of the United States."
The move is the latest in a series of actions taken by the Trump administration to crack down on perceived enemies both domestically and abroad. Critics have accused the administration of using the power of the state to target political opponents and silence dissent.
However, the State Department maintains that the visa restrictions are part of a broader effort to promote democracy and good governance in the region. Officials say they will continue to use this authority to hold accountable those who they believe are undermining US interests.
