Stay Safe and Vape Responsibly: New Campaign Educates Youth

A new awareness campaign from OPSS focuses on promoting safe vaping practices and proper disposal methods for younger audiences.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has launched a comprehensive campaign to educate younger consumers on the importance of safe vapes usage and disposal. The initiative aims to address the growing concerns surrounding the improper handling and disposal of vaping products, which can pose significant environmental and health risks.
According to OPSS officials, the campaign will utilize a range of educational resources, including informative videos, social media outreach, and interactive workshops. The goal is to empower young people with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their vaping habits and ensure the safe disposal of used devices and cartridges.
"We recognize that vaping has become increasingly popular among younger generations, and it's crucial that they understand the proper ways to use and dispose of these products," said Sarah Albon, the Chief Executive of OPSS. "By raising awareness and providing practical guidance, we hope to empower young people to make responsible choices and minimize the environmental impact of vaping."
The campaign's educational resources will cover a range of topics, including the safe use of vaping devices, the importance of avoiding sharing or modifying equipment, and the proper disposal methods for used cartridges and batteries. Additionally, the initiative will highlight the potential dangers of improper vape disposal, such as the risk of fires, chemical leaks, and environmental contamination.
"Young people are often unaware of the potential risks associated with improper vape disposal," said Albon. "By providing clear and accessible information, we aim to encourage responsible behavior and help protect both individual and environmental health."
The OPSS campaign is part of a broader effort to address the growing vaping crisis, which has been a focus of public health authorities and policymakers worldwide. With this new initiative, the organization hopes to empower younger consumers to make informed choices and contribute to a safer and more sustainable vaping ecosystem.
