Stranded Whale's Desperate Struggle on German Coast

Rescue teams battle to free whale trapped in shallow Baltic waters, as new equipment arrives for another attempt to save the struggling animal.
Rescuers are racing against time to save a whale that has become stranded on the German Baltic coast. The large marine mammal, trapped in shallow waters, is fighting for survival as initial efforts to free it have so far been unsuccessful.
The whale, believed to be a young humpback, was first spotted near the town of Timmendorfer Strand on Sunday. Authorities quickly mobilized a team of specialists to assess the situation and attempt a rescue operation, but the challenging conditions have made the process difficult and dangerous.
"This is an extremely delicate situation," said marine biologist SusanneAlbrecht. "The whale is in a very precarious position, and we need to act quickly and carefully to give it the best chance of survival."
