Strikes Cripple Iran's Steel Industry as Major Plants Shut Down

Iran's two largest steel plants have been forced to shut down due to strikes, according to the companies. This could have significant economic consequences for the country.
Iran's two largest steel plants have been forced to shut down due to strikes, the companies operating the facilities have confirmed. The strikes, which Iran says were first launched by Israel in co-ordination with the US last week, could cause major damage to the Iranian economy.
The Mobarakeh Steel Company, Iran's largest steel producer, said it had been forced to halt production due to the strikes. The company, which accounts for over 50% of the country's total steel output, said the action had brought its operations to a standstill.
Meanwhile, the Khuzestan Steel Company, the second-largest producer, also announced that it had been compelled to shut down its facilities. The company, located in the southwestern Khuzestan province, is a major contributor to Iran's overall steel production.
