Supreme Court to Decide Fate of Migrants Granted Protected Status

The Supreme Court will hear expedited arguments on maintaining Temporary Protected Status for over 350,000 migrants from Syria and Haiti.
The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to take up a case that will determine the future of over 350,000 migrants who were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) by the federal government. The court temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting some 6,000 Syrians and 350,000 Haitians who were previously granted this protected status, which allows them to live and work legally in the United States.
The case centers around the government's efforts to end TPS designations for several countries, including Syria and Haiti, citing improved conditions in those nations. TPS provides temporary legal status and work authorization for migrants from countries experiencing armed conflict, natural disasters, or other extraordinary conditions that prevent their safe return.
