In a move that further escalates tensions between the United States and Rwanda, the Biden administration has imposed sanctions on Rwanda's military and top commanders for their alleged involvement in the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The sanctions target the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwandan Armed Forces' Chief of Defense Staff, General Jean-Claude Kaziza, as well as Brig. Gen. Innocent Gashugi, the RDF's operations and intelligence chief.
