Texas Lawmakers Clash Over DHS Funding Amid Airport Chaos

Republican Sen. John Cornyn and Democratic Rep. Greg Casar spar over TSA agent pay as the partial government shutdown enters its second month, causing long lines at US airports.
In a tense showdown outside Austin's international airport, Republican Senator John Cornyn and Democratic Congressman Greg Casar of Texas engaged in a heated debate over funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as the ongoing partial government shutdown entered its second month.
Cornyn, a longtime Texas senator who is facing a tough primary challenge from Attorney General Ken Paxton, visited the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to bring Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees their lunch. As he arrived, he encountered Casar, whose district includes Austin, and who was reportedly there to catch a flight back to Washington, D.C.
