The Enduring Legacy of Mother Teresa: A Life Dedicated to Hope and Compassion

Remembering the life and impact of Mother Teresa, a tireless advocate for the poor and forgotten who dedicated her life to serving the most vulnerable around the world.
Mother Teresa, the diminutive nun who became a global icon of compassion, passed away at the age of 87 in 1997, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire millions around the world. Mother Teresa dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor, establishing welfare institutions, family clinics, mobile leprosy clinics, and nurseries for abandoned children, all with the sole purpose of bringing hope and dignity to those who had been cast aside by society.
Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia, Mother Teresa felt a calling to serve God from a young age. In 1928, she joined the Sisters of Loreto and traveled to India, where she would spend the next 69 years of her life. It was in the slums of Calcutta, however, that Mother Teresa found her true purpose, witnessing firsthand the abject poverty and suffering that plagued the city's most vulnerable residents.
