The Future of Modular, Robot-Powered Smartphones

Year after year, we mostly know what to expect from our smartphone upgrades. Galaxy, iPhone, Pixel, or whatever else, everything seems to get slightly better (and occasionally more expensive) without many surprises in store. That's not to say there are no new ideas left in smartphones, though. You just have to know where to look.

Looking even further into the future, industry experts predict that 6G connectivity will be a game-changer for smartphones. With data speeds up to 100 times faster than 5G, 6G will enable new use cases like seamless augmented reality, real-time holographic communication, and the ability to control remote devices with millisecond-level latency.

While today's smartphones may seem incremental in their updates, the innovations on display at Mobile World Congress suggest that the future of mobile technology is poised to be far more transformative. From modular designs to robotic integration and 6G connectivity, the smartphones of tomorrow may bear little resemblance to the devices we use today.
