Tierna Davidson's Comeback: Powering Gotham's NWSL Title Defense and USWNT Activism

World Cup champion Tierna Davidson opens up about returning from injury, leading Gotham FC's NWSL title defense, and her ongoing activism with the USWNT.
Tierna Davidson, the captain of NJ/NY Gotham FC, is eager to step back into leadership roles with both her club and the USWNT as the NWSL season begins. The 27-year-old center-back is coming off a second ACL tear in three years, a brutal setback in an already prolific career.
In 2019, Davidson left Stanford to turn pro, and was drafted by the Chicago Red Stars as the No 1 pick in the NWSL college draft. That year, at just 20, she was also named to the USWNT World Cup squad that would go on to win the tournament.
