Top Execs Summoned for Greens-Led Gas Tax Inquiry

Labor faces pressure to impose a 25% export tax as global fuel prices soar. Key industry leaders may be compelled to testify at the Greens-led inquiry into tax settings.
The bosses of major energy companies including Santos, Woodside, Chevron, and Shell have been requested to provide evidence at a Greens-led inquiry into export tax settings. This comes as Labor faces mounting pressure to impose a new 25% tax on gas exports amid the global fuel price crisis.
Under Senate rules, the chief executives of these companies, along with the heads of Inpex and ConocoPhillips, could be compelled to attend the inquiry sessions in Canberra and Perth later this month if they do not voluntarily agree to testify.
