Trump Demands ICE Presence at Airports During Shutdown

President threatens to send ICE agents to airports unless a funding deal is reached, as security staff go unpaid due to government shutdown.
President Trump has threatened to send Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to airports unless a funding deal is reached to end the ongoing partial government shutdown. The president argued that ICE would be needed to "do security" as airport security staff have gone without pay for weeks due to the impasse.
The threat came during a press conference on Friday, where Trump warned that if a deal was not struck soon, he would deploy ICE personnel to fill the gap left by the unpaid Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers. "We'll be using ICE, we'll be using law enforcement strongly at the border," the president stated.
