Trump Postpones China Summit Amid Escalating Iran Tensions

US President delays China visit as Washington ramps up pressure on Tehran, seeking Beijing's help to reopen strategic Strait of Hormuz
Washington - In a move that underscores the escalating geopolitical tensions, US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his planned trip to Beijing has been delayed as the Trump administration ramps up its war on Iran. The announcement comes as the US seeks China's help to reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that has become a flashpoint in the ongoing conflict.
The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, is a vital global trade route, with an estimated 21 million barrels of oil passing through it daily. Iran, which controls the northern shore of the strait, has threatened to close it in retaliation for US sanctions and heightened military pressure.
