Trump's handling of the Iran crisis has left the president stuck between a rock and a hard place, according to Leon Panetta, a former US Defence Secretary and CIA Director. In an interview with the Guardian, Panetta, who served in the Bill Clinton and Barack Obama administrations, accused Trump of being naive in his approach to the conflict.
Panetta recalled that national security officials were always aware of Iran's ability to create an energy crisis by blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a scenario that is now unfolding and leaving Trump with no exit strategy beyond wishful thinking.
