In his lengthy State of the Union address, President Donald Trump touted his administration's accomplishments during his first year in office, despite facing historically low public approval ratings. However, Trump's speech was littered with a number of false and misleading claims about the state of the economy, immigration, and energy prices.
Debunking Trump's Biggest Falsehoods
For example, Trump presented the U.S. economic situation in a positive light, even though job gains actually slowed in 2025. He also falsely claimed that an immigrant named Iryna Zarutska was killed, when in fact no such person exists. Additionally, Trump erroneously stated that energy prices have fallen, when in reality, household energy bills have risen over the past year.
