UK Backs MINUSCA's Vital Civilian Protection in Central African Republic

The UK reaffirms its strong support for the UN peacekeeping mission MINUSCA and its crucial role in safeguarding civilians in the volatile Central African Republic.
The United Kingdom remains a steadfast supporter of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), recognizing its vital role in protecting civilians and promoting stability in the war-torn nation. In a recent statement delivered at the UN Security Council, UK Deputy Permanent Representative Archie Young reaffirmed London's commitment to the peacekeeping operation and the ongoing efforts to address the complex challenges facing the Central African Republic (CAR).
MINUSCA, which was established in 2014, has been instrumental in providing security, supporting the political process, and upholding human rights in the CAR. The mission's mandate encompasses a range of crucial tasks, including the protection of civilians, the facilitation of humanitarian access, and the support of national authorities in their efforts to restore state authority and essential services.
In his statement, Ambassador Young emphasized the UK's steadfast support for MINUSCA's vital role in safeguarding civilians and mitigating the impact of the ongoing violence and instability in the country. The envoy also highlighted the mission's important work in helping to create the conditions for the implementation of the 2019 Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation, which remains a critical step towards lasting peace and stability in the CAR.
