UK Explains Stance on Slavery Resolution at UN

The United Kingdom has delivered an explanation of its vote on the UN General Assembly resolution regarding the declaration of the trafficking and enslavement of Africans as the gravest crime against humanity. Ambassador James Kariuki, the UK's Chargé d'Affaires to the UN, provided insight into the UK's position on this historic resolution.
In his statement, Ambassador Kariuki acknowledged the abhorrent history of the transatlantic slave trade and the horrors of chattel slavery that have had a lasting impact on the African diaspora. He recognized the immense suffering inflicted upon millions of Africans and their descendants through this inhumane system.
