UK Grants U.S. Access to Bases for Strikes on Iran's Strait Threats

Amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, the UK has allowed the U.S. to use its military bases to launch strikes against Iranian forces menacing commercial shipping in the strategic waterway.
London - In a move aimed at countering Iran's disruptive activities in the Strait of Hormuz, the United Kingdom has granted the United States permission to use British military bases to launch strikes against Iranian forces threatening commercial shipping in the strategic waterway.
The decision, which was announced on Sunday, comes as tensions in the region have escalated in recent weeks following a series of attacks on oil tankers that the U.S. and its allies have blamed on Iran. Tehran has denied involvement in the incidents.
According to U.S. officials, the agreement allows American forces to utilize Royal Air Force (RAF) bases in Fairford and Lakenheath to conduct air operations, including the deployment of B-1 bombers, against Iranian targets deemed a threat to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
