UK Regulator Denies Heathrow's Bid to Hike Landing Fees

The UK aviation authority has rejected Heathrow Airport's plans to significantly raise landing fees, citing concerns over steep price hikes for passengers.
In a move that could impact the travel plans of millions, the UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has partially rejected Heathrow Airport's proposal to significantly increase its landing fees. The airport had sought the changes to fund a multi-billion pound upgrade, but airlines had warned that such steep rises would ultimately be passed on to passengers.
According to the CAA's ruling, the average charge per passenger should only rise from £28.40 to £28.80 between 2027 and 2031, a much more modest increase than Heathrow had hoped for. The regulator argued that the airport can still invest in necessary upgrades without imposing such substantial hikes in ticket prices.
