UK Voices Concern Over Great Lakes Humanitarian Crisis

The UK urges action to address the worsening humanitarian situation in Africa's Great Lakes region, stressing the need for security and aid access.
The United Kingdom remains deeply concerned by the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Great Lakes region of Africa. In a statement delivered at the United Nations Security Council, UK Minister Counsellor Jennifer MacNaughtan emphasized the urgency of addressing the crisis and ensuring the provision of vital aid and security for vulnerable populations.
The Great Lakes region, which encompasses countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, and Rwanda, has long been plagued by instability, conflict, and displacement. MacNaughtan noted that the situation has only worsened in recent years, with widespread violence, human rights abuses, and a severe lack of access for humanitarian organizations.
