Ukraine and Russia's Leaders Mark Easter Amid Ceasefire Allegations

As Orthodox Christians in both countries celebrate Easter, Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of violating a temporary ceasefire agreement.
The solemn Easter holiday was observed in both Ukraine and Russia this past weekend, with the leaders of each country marking the occasion as their forces continued to clash on the battlefield. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin both made public appearances and statements related to the religious celebration, even as the two sides traded accusations of ceasefire violations.
In a video message, Zelenskyy wished Ukrainians a Happy Easter, saying, "This is a holiday of the triumph of good over evil, of light over darkness." He added that "we will overcome everything" and that Ukraine will "definitely win this war." Putin, meanwhile, attended an Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, where he proclaimed that "light will triumph over darkness."
