Apple introduces the new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros, featuring faster storage and higher starting prices. Discover the upgrades and their impact on demanding pro workflows.
Apple's latest updates to its high-end MacBook Pro lineup bring the powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max chips to the 14-inch and 16-inch models, promising significant performance boosts for demanding professional workflows. The tech giant has also made some notable changes to the base storage configurations, with the M5 Pro now coming with 1TB of storage by default, while the M5 Max models start with 2TB.
According to Apple's claims, the internal storage in these new MacBook Pros is said to be up to 2x faster than the previous generation, delivering even quicker file access and data transfer speeds. This storage upgrade, however, comes with a price increase – the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 Pro now starts at $2,199, up from $1,999, while the 16-inch M5 Pro model has a starting price of $2,699, up from $2,499.
The base M5 MacBook Pro has also seen a bump in storage, with the starting configuration now offering 1TB of space instead of the previous 512GB. Unfortunately, this change has also resulted in a higher starting price of $1,699, up from $1,599.
