Veterinary authorities have issued a recall alert for specific batches of Hibiwash 4% w/v Cutaneous Solution Clorhexidine gluconate 500 ml due to a potential risk of microbial contamination with Burkholderia cepacia complex (BCC). The affected batches pose a serious threat to animal health and must be taken off the market immediately.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) have received reports of the contamination, leading to the urgent recall. BCC is a group of bacteria that can cause life-threatening infections in animals with weakened immune systems or underlying medical conditions.
