US Authorizes Evacuation as Tensions Escalate Over Potential Iran Strike

The US has given employees permission to leave Israel as President Trump threatens military action against Iran over its nuclear program. The UN nuclear watchdog calls on Tehran to allow inspections.
Washington - The United States has authorized American staff to leave Israel as tensions escalate between Washington and Tehran, with President Trump threatening to launch a military strike against Iran if it does not agree to a new deal on its nuclear program by early March.
The move comes as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN's nuclear watchdog, has urged Iran to allow inspectors access to its nuclear sites amid concerns over the country's enrichment activities.
The potential for a renewed conflict between the US and Iran has sent shockwaves through the region, with American officials warning that a military confrontation could be imminent. Trump has taken an increasingly hard-line stance against Tehran, withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposing crippling economic sanctions.
In response, Iran has begun to scale back its commitments under the accord, raising uranium enrichment levels and stockpiling more low-enriched uranium than allowed. The IAEA has expressed alarm over Iran's activities, with Director General Rafael Grossi stating that the agency's inspectors require access to key facilities to verify the country's compliance.
